We come to the close of another year and to the end of another cycle of the 12 Steps.
We will have Celebrate Recovery every Friday in December, except for Dec 29. Instead of our regular meeting on the 29th, we will have a special gathering on Saturday, Dec 31 (New Year's Eve) starting at 7pm. This gives us a great opportunity to bring in the new year together in a safe environment.
In January 2018, we will restart with Step 1. Hope to see you in December and January!
Celebrate Recovery meets on Tuesday evenings at 7pm at the First Baptist Church of New Brighton.
The purpose of the Celebrate Recovery Ministry at First Baptist is to change the course of our lives, from following selfish ambitions and personal desires which end up causing us so much grief, to knowing and following God's perfect and Christ-centered plan and purpose for our lives which will by necessity lead us out of bondage to our old, painful resentments, hurts, addictions, and habits. Our healing is to be for His glory, not our own satisfaction.
We are once again holding in-person meetings!

September Happenings
God is has been doing much work among us and in us this summer. We have seen Him intervening and changing hearts and lives. Thank You, Lord for Your faithfulness and love for us and the mercy You show to those who simply humble themselves before You.
Thanks again to God and to everyone who helped and attended our Street Picnic on August 12. It was great to meet and get to know so many people from our community. It was a pleasure to sit and eat with each of you and we hope to see you all again soon.
We will NOT meet on Friday, September 2 because we are having an outreach event (in accordance with Step 12), at the Big Knob Fair where we will be ministering through prayer and conversation with the people there. Come out to the fair and see us!
We will resume our regular weekly meetings on September 9 at 7:00pm.

March 2016
As Spring quickly approaches, we continue to move through Step 2, which says, "We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves (Jesus Christ) could restore us to sanity." There are many special events and activities going on this month, please visit our church blog for more details (firstbaptistchurchnewbrighton.blogspot.com). March 18 and 25 will be special nights at Celebrate Recovery as we take time to celebrate the One who frees us from our chains of bondage to addiction, resentments, hurts, and habits. I hope you will join us every Friday, no matter if you are currently struggling with an addiction or resentment or if you've been celebrating victory over those things for years. We aren't here to fix each other (we couldn't if we wanted to), we are here to encourage and strengthen each other, hold each other accountable, and celebrate what God is doing in our lives.

February 2016
As we move through February we will also be moving through Step 2. February is not my favorite month as it is the dead of winter, but this year has been pretty mild and once March hits, spring is just around the corner. One thing I do like about February is that the cold limits what we can do outside, meaning there is plenty of time to come to Celebrate Recovery on a Friday night. It is cold out there, but warm in here with many friendly, caring people. Whether you have some hurts or habits that need to change or even if you're just bored or feeling down, come by on Friday night and let the Lord encourage you here at Celebrate Recovery.

January 2016 Schedule
Thanks to everyone who helped with the special session of CR on New Year's Eve. It was a great time of fellowship as we brought in the new year together.
We are back to our regular Friday sessions beginning January 8 and every Friday this month. We begin with Step 1 and whether you have been through the 12 Steps before or not, there is always much benefit from investing some time with what God is doing here at CR. He is always at work, always encouraging, molding, shaping and challenging us to put off the old you and put on the new.
Life is full of challenges, hurts, harmful habits, and heartbreaks, but there is hope in Almighy God who cares about you, has the power to help, and the desire to remove the darkness and bring you into His glorious Light.
Hope to see you Friday.
